When she walks into a room or opens the microphones, The First Lady of Gospel Radio, Morgan Dukes, welcomes the Holy Spirit to fill the place.

Then, her magnetic personality takes over. Full of warmth and charisma, Morgan is an established professional in her craft and has delighted listeners for years over the airwaves. It may seem a bit like a cliché, but Morgan is what you would call “a natural”. Morgan’s broadcasting career began while she was yet a youngster.

She was very intrigued with the local television and radio broadcasters in her hometown of Laurel, Mississippi. In fact, so intrigued that she knew that she would one day join the ranks of them. Even as early as high school, she was featured in local television commercials and showed promise as a Student Representative for various speaking engagements on behalf of the school. During the years of 1983-86, Morgan obtained a B.S. degree in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Southern Mississippi. When asked, “How she did it so quickly?” Morgan’s answer is always the same, “Perseverance!” Knowing she was destined for a career in broadcasting, she didn’t want to waste any time.

“I was on a mission to reach my goals – no matter what.”

Morgan began her career in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at radio station WMSU and later joined the staff of WHSY-FM also in Hattiesburg. Afterwards, she decided to jump “in the box” of television by joining the team of WDAM-TV. She later returned to radio at places such as WNSL-FM (Laurel, MS), WBLX AM/FM (Mobile, AL), and WALR-FM (Atlanta, GA). Morgan’s broadcasting career has kept her quite busy over the years performing duties from Television Reporter to Program Director. Her career has featured music from genres such as Adult Contemporary, Top 40, R&B, and Gospel for a variety of stations including Atlanta’s Premier Gospel station GLORY 1340, and America’s Premier Gospel Network the Sheridan Gospel Network. A significant milestone in the life of Morgan was when she accepted the calling of being a “Gospel Radio Announcer”.

This is all part of the miracle of how the Lord orchestrated her move from R& B radio into Gospel while at the same time joining her with her husband, Pastor Jerome Dukes…only God could have done this. He placed her in a prosperous field while showing her His grace and love. It was a beautiful way to totally change her life. In 1996, Morgan became the first hostess of the ground-breaking new radio show “Morning Inspirations”. It was the first of its kind in the Atlanta Radio market. “Morning Inspirations” was the first daily Gospel broadcast to hit the Atlanta airwaves. The segment was both an answered prayer and a precursor to having Gospel on the FM band daily in the Atlanta market. Morgan’s broadcasting career spans more than 30 years and also includes appearances in motion pictures, voice-over’s for national commercials, and hosting and appearances on television shows which have aired on the Word Network, Daystar and TBN. Currently, she hosts “The Gospel Express” which is broadcasted daily on more than 50 stations nationwide.

You can hear her weekdays, 10 AM-3 PM, EST on www.aboardthegospelexpress.com or check your local listings. New York, San Francisco, Nashville, Augusta, Shreveport, and Greensboro, NC are just some of the many cities that Morgan is heard each day. Morgan worships and serves in ministry at Community Fellowship Christian Center International, Fayetteville, GA under the leadership of her husband, Bishop Jerome Dukes. As the “First Lady”, she works very closely with the TNT Ministry (Teens In Training), the Women’s Fellowship and the “Women of Virtue” Conference. The Dukes’ have a son, Justin. In addition to her radio career, Morgan spends time working with the youth in the Community and mentoring the “Next Generation of Broadcasters” through both internships and private lessons”. Morgan also sits on several professional boards including SAGMA and The Association of Christian Ministers of Clayton County.
